No I didn't vote for Fernando Poe in the last election. I voted for Raul Roco, as most of you who followed my blog entries around May would know. But, yes I couldn't help but feel a miniscule sense of loss when news broke out about his death. Maybe like that tinge of sadness anyone might feel when you know an era has passed. An era has passed. This time the panday has evanesced, never to return save for the moments of fond remembrance. He will be missed by many, including me. Although I find myself making disparaging remarks about Filipino movies every now and then, I do recognize the immense impact on Pinoy pop culture by popular icons such as FPJ. I'm Pinoy after all. And as a Pinoy, I have great respect for Fernando the actor. I have great respect for what he accomplished in the decades that have passed. He made himself an icon, an astounding feat that is by no measure trivial. Here's to Fernando! Ang Panday will always live in this little boy's heart.
