I got one of those emails again. Yes, there are email that never die. They just morph or change with the times. An old email can be recycled by adding in a recent event or TV ad; maybe change some of the names in it or maybe the city where it happened. But the circumstances still stay the same. Some contain useful information, some just try to scare you out of your wits.
Take for example the email I just got (again, that is). It warns against one-way mirrors in fitting rooms and restrooms. This time around though, it makes a reference to a TV ad (M/S SAINT GOBAIN GLASSES). Haven't seen that ad yet. Means that this email was last morphed by a someone from another country. Anyway, you can read the one-way mirror story (obviously improperly titled as "how to detect a 2-way mirror") if you go to the end of this page.
Then there's that email about organ-stealing syndicates. You know, the one where the victim wakes up in a tub filled with ice with a note written on the bathroom mirror (there are many variations: mirror, folded piece of paper nearby, on victims chest) that says, "Call 911 or you will die!" In the first ever email I got years ago, they were victimizing salesmen in Vegas. The most recent one (I got it a few weeks ago), they were vicitmizing 20ish and 30ish single men with a taste for partying and "recreational drugs." Quite the stereotype of the Gen X and Gen Y males. I wonder what its the next incarnation will be?
