Blog-Hopping and That Sugar-High...

I'm blog-hopping to update people about my new domain. Spreading the word around, is all.

I having "sugar-highs" again a couple of hours ago coz I ate fastfood. No, I don't have diabetes. It's one of those terms I came up with to describe that feeling when you take in sweets or sugar-laden food. Parang may energy akong bigla. Pero wala na naman. Pababa na energy ko. My mood is swinging to lethargic after three hours. I need some real food. Babanatan ko na nga yung tinola sa kusina. I'm not a tinola person, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Sige, chow muna ako...

Free ba talaga 'yan?

Hey if any of you are interested in free iPods and you reside in the US, check out this article... http://www.wired.com/news/mac/0,2125,64614,00.html .

Apparently, this offer is the only free iPod offer that isn't a scam. Try Googling for "free iPods" and you'll know what I mean. 1,200,000 can't all be right.

Another Call...

I just spent the better half of the last hour writing the email below to Citibank's customer service department. I got pissed off trying to diss the phone rep. 'Nuff said...

I received a call from a Rep of an "accredited third party service provider of Citibank" and she promptly proceeded to fire away at her scripts before I could tell her I was having lunch at the moment. Being a kind person, I did not want to be rude and entertained the call. She (the Rep) went on to tell me that I was qualified to receive a pre-approved "cash back" card. I declined the offer three times and she still insisted in pitching her way into my life. I politely told her again that I did not need another Citibank credit card right now because I was having problems keeping my payment deadlines and (out of desperation to get out of the situation) told her I was actually planning to cancel my card. She still insisted in pitching the "cash back" card, to which I replied "what's the point in accepting the card you're offering if I'm canceling?" I was desperate to end the call and finish my meal. She responded by hurriedly reading something off her scripts thanking me, but doing so in a rather rude tone.

I’m sorry to have taken this much of your time, but I do want to ask that you remind your "accredited third party service providers” to hire agents that are polite enough. I also want to emphasize that I DO NOT want any additional credit cards from Citibank. I am NOT interested in any cash back card. I am keeping my Citibank card and that is the ONLY card that I want to have at this time. I will apply for one if ever I decide I want another card from you. I have been a LOYAL customer and I plan to stay with you, despite the rude "accredited third party service providers of Citibank." Please pass this on to your supervisor or manager so they would be apprised of this very PISSED OFF Citibank customer, yours truly.

Thank you for your time.

I recently received an appeal through email. I am sharing this with you all. If you could help in any way, please do. Please go to this page to find out about how you can help Bea. This isn't a scam. If you still want to help...

Visit this CNN page to find out what aid organization is nearest you. All of the organizations listed are actively rasing funds and sending out volunteers to the nations that have been devastated by the tsunami.

Smart Wap Mail - Supersize Me Early

A great way to kill time.I was too early for an errand,so i decided to hangout at McDonald's.This despite having watched the documentary Supersize me. I miss my wife all of the sudden. All my recent fastfood experiences have involved my wife. Its kind of lonely sitting here, pancake and faux fork & knife resting on cheap tissue paper. Its too cold im having a hard time typing this on my fone.My fingers are trembling and the coffee has grown cold.I found solace in the early throngs that pass by here.Take the 2 gay men that chirpily finished their pancakes then went out for a smoke.God,i need a cig! Then there was this lady who finished her pancakes in a hurry, a traveler by my guess. She went out the door just as fast, trying hard to balance a big shoulder bag and a large paper bag on 1 hand and cell on the other.Luv 2 watch people go.

Grief

It was such a shock to hear about the tragic events that followed the tsunami that 11 Asian and African countries. Up until now, I try and avoid watching the news on TV or looking at photo-essays. It is ( to put it succintly) just heart-rending to do so. I feel my heart buckle everytime I read a headline about a lost parent or sibling or child. I feel numb whenever I think about the sheer number of lives lost. There are no amount of words that could express the collective grief being felt by those who survived and those who are still suffering today.

I hope help arrives sooner ... CNN Special

We can help though... Help now

Millenium

I just found out that my favorite TV show off all time is now available in DVD...

Yule Bog

I admit that it's been a while. Below are the reasons why I haven't blogged for nearly 2 excruciating weeks:

  • My holiday sched was hectic. We had relatives from my father's family and my sister-in-law visiting from the US. We had to make do with the only week we could visit them. My apologies to Lany, who came home first but is the only balikbayan I have yet to visit. I juggled the scheds with doing errands and going to the supermarkets to do shopping. Result? One very tired Ed working the night shift.

  • The holidays were still work days. We operate 24/7, see. I spent Christmas eve and Christmas day at the office. Ditto for the New Year. Seniority being the king at work, I couldn't get vacation time for any of the four days mentioned. We have a limit on how many jokers can get vacation time on critical days - grrrrrrrrrrr.

  • I've rediscovered the kid in me. I am again enthralled in two vintage (re: old) games. These were the games that I missed playing during my younger years because I didn't have enough money to buy a computer of my own. I prefer older games because my video card sucks. I spend 3-5 hours playing away on the computer nonetheless. That is, if I have any time left. The last few days have been kinder, so I was able to play 3 hours straight on occassion. Well, 3 straight hours with the exception of a few minor interruptions to frolick around and feed my 2-year old toddler.

  • I was too lazy to go online. Blame it on the fact that there were days that I felt like a zombie in one of those Resident Evil movies. Only instead of an insatiable hunger for flesh, I had one for sleep.

Well, so goes the holidays. I can't wait till next Christmas. I hope I don't drag my feet on my way there ;-))
